What About Us
Dreadnought (in partnership with Cornwall Council) is offering an exciting opportunity to the siblings of disabled children. Cornwall Council have identified through research and consultation that the siblings of disabled children would like to have fun, be creative, meet up with peers, help each other carry the burden and be listened to.
Dreadnought is running a project called ‘What About Us?
What About Us? will be in the Bodmin area on an outreach starting September 2011. We are offering a peer group aged 8 – 12 years of non disabled siblings of disabled children who will meet for fun creative days during term time. WHAT ABOUT US FLYER
What About Us? Will bring together a group of peers who are in a similar situation to have fun and be creative in a safe and supportive environment. They will be able to socialise and receive support to begin to understand that they are not the only ones in similar situations and begin to have a greater understanding of what their situation means to them. In line with Dreadnought’s ethos and philosophy, all children and young people in the group will be unconditionally accepted and listened to and will have trained positive adults to whom they can talk to if they wish.
The aim of ‘What About Us?’ is to provide the siblings of disabled children with an opportunity to be the focus of attention and above all have fun!
There is no charge for ‘What About Us?’ 2011 but, places are limited.
