Saturday 10th September saw The Dreadnought Centre host it’s 40th Anniversary Celebration Day and what a day it was!  From the bouncy castle and face painting in the sports hall, to commemorative mug designing and salt pot creating in the art and craft rooms, the building was buzzing with visitors getting creative!

Refreshments were provided throughout the day courtesy of donations from Tesco, Morrisons and Bookers and visitors enjoyed morning pastries, lunchtime savoury rolls and afternoon cream teas.

The stage was set in the afternoon for local performers and special guests and the audience enjoyed a wide range of musical acts; including songs from the Big Band Era courtesy of Chris Abbott, the 1940’s brought to life thanks to Sara-Jane Perrins and Claire Simmons and a variety of numbers from the 1970’s –2000’s performed by Warwick Addison and Roger McGuinness.  We were also very proud to host the debut performance of ‘The Arching Cobra’s’, a group of talented young people and a guest spot of one of the band performing with their Dad, local musician Tobias Smollet.

The grand draw of the raffle was held at 4.00pm amidst great excitement and anticipation with the children and young people who were present, drawing each winning ticket. All of our fab prizes were donated by local companies including:- Flynqy,  South Crofty Jewellery, Llawnroc Hotel, Pro-Flight, Parish Crafts, Knightor Winery, Marine Discovery, Duchy Valet, Khalile Siddiqui Photography, Woolacotts, Powells Garage and many many more. The raffle, together with other donations, resulted in the charity raising £1660 to support continuing services.

Dreadnought would like to thank everyone who came along and supported the Celebration day and we look forward to the next 40 years of providing a service for children and young people in need in Cornwall.
